THANKS!

On behalf of the BOG Directors, the SBBA Board, and students, we wanted to say a hearty and heart-felt THANK YOU to all of our parents, students, alumni, friends, and other volunteers who worked to hard to make the 38th Annual Southern Invitational an unqualified success!  Putting on a marching band contest is a big deal – it takes hours of planning and an army of volunteers to achieve.  When the event arrives, there are hundreds of tasks and jobs to be done, and it quite amazing to see how everyone got together for set up and the event and worked together to make it happen.   We can be proud that our volunteers stepped up to the plate, hitting home run after home run.

The feedback from our contest participants yesterday was all positive, many commenting how smoothly the whole operation ran from start to finish.  There are just too many people who gave of their time and talents yesterday to recognize all by name, but some kudos are still appropriate:

·       Our equipment crew gave herculean efforts, managing the workload of three teams with two, starting the day at 8:00 am and finishing the day at 11:00 PM (and still wrapping up on Sunday!)

·       Our parking crew ran the lot the smoothest it has ever been!

·       Our concessions crew, both sides, worked tirelessly throughout the whole event to keep our hungry participants fed. There were no long lines at SI!

·       Our spirt pop, souvenirs, and bundt cake sales were as much as we could hope for! Thank you to everyone who worked in those areas for your entrepreneurial spirit!

·       Shout outs to our Membership Chair and to all who helped for launching our first annual alumni outreach program with SI!  We have heard nothing but positive feedback from our alumni who feel very appreciated!

·       Our back end administration  of the event is one of the many reasons we performed so well. Our hospitality chairs (directors, judges, and volunteers), student volunteer and band host managers, waste services crews, water services crews, director check in and staff administration, communications, stadium seating crews, handicapped transportation,  press box crew, first aid and treasurers all worked together behind the scenes to make our event a success.

It was truly a team effort and it couldn’t have happened without you! Thank you again for your generous contribution of your time and talents to the Southern Invitational.

Sincerely,
