WHO ARE WE?
The Sprayberry High School Band has a long-standing tradition of music excellence. The band has been awarded hundreds of championship trophies and has earned a reputation as being one of the "Best High School Marching Bands in the Country." This honor was bestowed upon the band in the year 2000 by "Band Director Magazine".
Sprayberry High School was founded in 1952 in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta, Ga. The Band of Gold was founded shortly after with the formation of the Sprayberry High School Football Program. By the 1970's the band was already one of the most successful band programs in the state. In the 1970's the band was already winning local and state marching championships as well as earning high marks and rewards in concert band performance. This excellence continues to present day as the band has been awarded hundreds of awards from local, state and national music festivals, marching competitions and parades.
The Sprayberry concert program has over 50 years of superior ratings, concert festival awards and grand championships. The concert bands have performed on grand concert stages all over the county including the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The band has also been awarded high marks for its participation some of the country's most popular parades including the Orange Bowl Parade, The Fiesta Bowl Parade and in 1993 the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. In addition, the Band of Gold has performed Governors and two sitting Presidents of the United States including Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Regan. In 1995 the Band of Gold was awarded a Commendation by the Georgia House of Representatives for being one of the "premier" high school marching bands of the world.
For decades the band program at Sprayberry has had a tradition of Symphonic and Marching excellence and has sustained a legacy where thousands of alumni musicians had their lives changed under the direction of Sprayberry Band's directors.
