The Sprayberry Indoor Percussion Ensemble

Sprayberry Indoor Percussion is a marching and music ensemble that performs primarily during the Winter months of the year. The Indoor Program will perform a 6-8 minute show based on theme or concept. The Indoor Program is open to any Sprayberry student that meet the music reading and performance requirements. The program will be directed by our percussion director Alan Sears with the support of the Sprayberry Band Directors and the Sprayberry Band Boosters Association.

Who can participate?

Any Sprayberry High School, Pope High School, Lassiter High School or Wheeler High School student can join our indoor percussion ensemble. Students must be able to:

  • Read Sheet Music

  • Attend all rehearsals and competitions

  • Complete all SBBA registration materials

  • Pay program Fees

Students who are in other fine arts programs must continue their primary instruments in those programs. For instance, If you play flute or violin you are still expected to continue your primary instrument in your class ensembles. All wind musicians MUST continue their wind instrument in the marching band program.

What is indoor Percussion?

An indoor percussion ensemble or indoor drumline consists of the marching percussion (also called battery) and front ensemble (also called pit) sections of a marching band. Indoor percussion marries elements of music performance, marching, and theater; thus, the activity is often referred to as percussion theater. Although most indoor percussion ensembles are affiliated with high schools, there are also many independent groups that draw participants from a large area.

There will be a participation fee association with SIP membership. We always strive to keep fees low. The membership fees will go directly into operational costs of the program. These include:

  • Logistics & Travel

Sprayberry Indoor Drumline is an extra curricular program, not connected to any academic class at Sprayberry High School. Unfortunately, due to budgetary limitations, the Sprayberry Band Booster Association will be unable to provide any financial assistance. All registered students are expected to pay fees in their entirety. Failure to fully fund the Indoor Drumline program will result in a program cuts or cancellation.
