Join the 2024 Fall Color Guard

The Sprayberry High School Band would like to invite your high school and 8th grade student to join the award winning Band of Gold Colorguard. Sprayberry Guard is open to any student that is zoned to attend Sprayberry High School in the Fall.

***No Prior Experience is required***

The Fall Guard is the marching guard for the Band of Gold Marching Band. Students in the Fall Guard are considered members of the marching band. Students in the guard play a vital role in the marching field production as well as travel to all home and away football games, competitions and parades. We have a dedicated guard staff that is committed to preparing your students for their journey with the Band of Gold.

Audition Clinic Details

Fall guard auditions are held for four days in the SHS Band Room. Auditions for guard are open to any Sprayberry High School student that meet the extracurricular participation requirements. No prior experience is required to join the Fall Guard. 

To become a member of the guard, students will need to meet the set performance standard for Sprayberry color guard which is set by directors and instructional staff. Students will need to demonstrate existing or progressing skills in the area of dance, flag and/or ceremonial weapon. Students not showing a existing or progressing skill set in any of these areas will not be selected. 

During the clinics each participant will be taught basic flag technique and dance fundamentals. These techniques and fundamentals will be utilized into a simple flag and dance routine to be performed during the audition on Friday. Each participant will audition in small groups. 

**IMPORTANT**

Each participant should plan to attend all clinic practices. This includes new and returning members. 

Please wear comfortable athletic clothing and make sure you eat before clinic practices. 

The Fall guard members are considered members of the Sprayberry Band of Gold Marching Band. Members are expected to register as member of the marching band and attend all marching band events, practices and performances.
